New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Number of air passengers lowered by 4.50 per cent and stood at 1.9 lakh crore this year due to non-availability of seats after the debt-ridden airline Jet Airways grounded its operations.
In April, 2018, the number of air passengers was 1.15 lakh crore, aviation regulator DGCA said while releasing the data.
The low was witnessed after 67 months as before this, the decline in number of air travelers was recorded in September 2013.
According to the data, Indigo occupied almost half of the market on domestic routes. His market share ballooned to 49.9 per cent in April from 42.5 per cent in January.
Air India came at second with 13.9 per cent market share followed by SpiceJet at third position with 13.1 per cent.
SpiceJet came at first in the case of flying with filled seats. The proportion of its filled seats (PFL) was 93.7 per cent followed by GoAir 90.8 per cent, IndiGo 87.8 per cent, Vistara 84.6 per cent, Air Asia 84.4 per cent, Air India 81.2 per cent, Jet Light 79.1 per cent and Jet Airways 76.3 per cent.
