Nuapada by-election: Over 75pc voter turnout

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (UNI) The by-poll for Odisha’s Nuapada Assembly constituency recorded an impressive voter turnout of 75.37 per cent, till the last reports received from the State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
The assembly constituency has 2.53 lakh voters. Large numbers of voters were seen queuing up in some of the polling booths, though 6 pm is the voting deadline.
The demise of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia necessitated the bypoll.

Eight fishermen arrested for illegal fishing in Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary

Kendrapara, Dec 13 (UNI) Forest personnel of the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, during the early hours of Saturday, intercepted a mechanised fishing vessel and arrested eight fishermen for illegally fishing inside the designated “no-fishing zone” of the sanctuary.
