NSDC ties up with Swedish firm to launch model computer lab in Faridabad schools

New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) To promote vocational education and empower youth with skills of the future, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) collaborated with Swedish Multinational School Education organisation Kunskapsskolan Education Sweden AB (KED).

Under the initiative, the first Model Computer Lab was inaugurated at NIT-1, Faridabad.



The NSDC in currently offering vocational training programs across 8,868 schools in 28 States/UTs, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Vocational Education (CSCVE) of MHRD.

To further improvise this initiaitve, the NSDC launched the KED model from this academic year which is a unique way of imparting vocational education at the school level, according to a statement here.



The two-year vocational education program offered in the Model Computer Lab will allow the unique learner-based approach to be tested for vocational training. Aimed to benefit students from disadvantaged backgrounds, the pedagogic program is being digitized and structured in Hindi through videos, interactive exercises and self-evaluation tools.



Speaking at the inauguration, NSDC MD & CEO Manish Kumar said, “We are pleased to collaborate with Kunskapsskolan Education and Manav Rachna in our endeavor to further enhance our vocational training initiatives at the school level.

'The personalised learning approach under this project will provide students with adequate tools to learn at their own pace. The pilot project initiated in Haryana will help us evaluate the effectiveness of the program and incorporate the learnings for scale up possibilities.”



Mr Peje Emilson, Entrepreneur and Executive Chairman of Kunskapsskolan Education Sweden AB, said, “Our skilled project is a blended model of learning based on the Kunskapsskolan Education (KED) methodology, combining digitisation with a personalised student-centric classroom.

'Development of education is one of our primary motives and establishment of this computer lab is a step in this direction. We work to improve the quality of education and increase the number of students in the school, so that the future of all children is secured."



KED has committed to invest Rs 6.6 crore for the project, where NSDC will facilitate and manage the entire implementation of the program.



NSDC is one of its kind public-private-partnership with an objective to facilitate skill training in partnership with private training providers and has trained more than 1.4 crore people across sectors.
