NSCN-K leader Lt Gen (retd) Nyemlang surrenders

Kohima, Sep 23 (UNI) The Chairman of the breakaway faction of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K), Lt Gen (retired) Nyemlang Konyak, along with his colleagues, has surrendered to the security forces on the Indian side of the India-Myanmar border and they were handed themselves over to the Assam Rifles somewhere in Mon district on September 22.

Sources said, Lt Gen (retired) Nyemlang Konyak had expressed his desire to join NSCN Reformation group, which is part of the Working Committee of NNPGs holding dialogue with Government of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs had reportedly given clearance for safe passage to Konyak and his functionaries to come across the border and join NSCN(R). They also surrendered some arms, ammunition and communication sets to the Assam Rifles, the reports said.
