New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) In the first meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust on Wednesday, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was elected President and Champat Rai as General Secretary of the trust formed by the government recently.
The meeting, held at the residence of senior lawyer K Parasharan, also decided to nominate Prime Minister’s former Principal Secretary Nripendra Mishra as the Chairman of the temple construction committee whereas Mahant Govind Dev Giri was appointed treasurer.
The meeting was aimed at deciding the modalities to speed up the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and it was unanimously decided to open a bank account in State Bank of India branch for donations for construction of the temple.
Apart from the saints, the Central Government representative Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Gyanesh Kumar, representative of Uttar Pradesh Government Avinash Awasthy and Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha were also present.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 5 announced the 15 member Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust in the Parliament.
This trust has seven members, five nominated members and three trustees. The trust was formed in adherence to the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya dispute in November last year.
