Now, RSS chief bats for Ram Temple - Says it will end Hindu-Muslim conflicts

New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the concluding day of his special and unprecedented outreach programme on Wednesday strongly favoured construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya by 'consensus' and saw it as a way to end Hindu-Muslim conflicts.
"If it (Ram Temple at Ayodhya) happens through consensus, then the dispute between Hindus and Muslims will be over forever," Mr Bhagwat said at the conclave organised by his organisation under the theme '"Bhavishya ka Bharat - an RSS perspective".
"I want a grand Ram Mandir to be built soon," he said - a day after Bhagwat categorically stated that the RSS conception of the Hindu Rashtra does have scope and space for Muslims as well.
Mr Bhagwat maintained: "Whichever way and whatever the means, it (Temple) should be built at the earliest. There should be no politics over this. If it happens through consensus, then the dispute between Hindus and Muslims will be over for ever".
The chief of Sanghparivar fountainhead - whose offshoot organisations and associates like BJP and VHP spearheaded the campaign - asserted: "If the temple is done harmoniously, the fingers that are raised again and again at the Muslims would not be raised".
He also said the final decision on the Temple issue rests with the Ram Mandir Samiti, which is spearheading the campaign for construction for last four decades.
The matter is also pending before the Supreme Court especially in the wake of 2010 judgement of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
Answering questions from those attending the conclave, Mr Bhagwat said he would not know whether an ordinance on Ram temple could be promulgated since he is not a part of the government.
The three-day outreach programme of the RSS came to an end on Wednesday evening.
During the conclave, on the second day on Tuesday, Mr Bhagwat had said: "The day we will have a situation that we do not need Muslims, that day the very purpose of Hindu Rashtra will be defeated".
The Ram temple-Masjid dispute in Ayodhya near Faizabad relates to decades old litigation and socio-political conflict which have also gone through high voltage political battle and also communal violence.
On December 6, 1992, the Babri Masjid was brought down by the Hindu devotees and foot soldiers owing allegiance to RSS and various Hindu organisations like Bajrang Dal, VHP and BJP.
