New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral Samuel Paparo's India visit will expand the US-India defense partnership, emphasizing that "now is the time to strengthen vital cooperation between our two nations."
Ambassador Gor welcomed Commander Paparo to India, highlighting the importance of deepening the defense partnership between the two countries.
In a social media post, Ambassador Gor said, "Delighted to have Admiral Samuel Paparo in India to expand the US-India defense partnership. Now is the time to strengthen vital cooperation between our two nations."
The visit underscores ongoing efforts to enhance strategic and military collaboration, reinforcing bilateral ties between the US and India in the Indo-Pacific region.
During his visit on Sunday, Admiral Paparo applauded the "tactical execution" of Indian military operations against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, adding that "there is always a lesson to learn from every conflict in the world."
He described the US-India defense relationship as being on a upward trajectory, while also flagging concerns about growing "coercion" and "aggression" in the Indo-Pacific region.
Over the past decade, the India-US defense partnership has witnessed transformative growth through increasingly complex military exercises, defense sales and strategic dialogue.
The US is strengthening this partnership through operational coordination, information sharing, collaboration with like-minded partners, and defense industrial and technology cooperation. A strong and capable India, in a durable partnership with the United States, can help provide security and deter conflict in the Indo-Pacific.
The quadrilateral partnership with Japan, Australia and India is also deepening, focusing on issues of strategic significance. Military collaboration among these nations continues to work closely to institutionalize multilateral activities such as Exercise Malabar, which brings their navies together to enhance interoperability.
