Notification for the 2nd phase of Lok Sabha elections to be issued on March 19

Raipur, 18 March (UNI) The process of filing nomination papers for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in three constituencies - Kanker, Mahasamund, and Rajnandgaon - in Chhattisgarh, will begin with the issuance of notification on March 19, 2019 (Tuesday). Polling in these three Lok Sabha constituencies will be held on April 18. Meanwhile, no nomination paper was filed in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency on the first day after issuance of notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on March 18, 2019 (Monday).
Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo said that candidates can file nomination papers between 11 am and 3 pm on all working days except government holidays for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Kanker, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon constituencies. The nomination papers for the second phase can be filed till March 26. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 27 while nominations can be withdrawn till March 29.
According to CEO Sahoo, elaborate arrangements were made for polling in the second phase of elections. About 48 lakh 95 thousand 719 voters in Kanker, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituencies can exercise their franchise in the second phase of elections. These voters included 24 lakh 63 thousand 102 women, 24 lakh 32 thousand 554 men and 63 third-gender voters. Total 6484 polling centers were set up to ensure cent percent polling.
