Northeast ADC leaders push for greater autonomy in Shillong meeting

Aizawl, Aug 11 (UNI) Leaders of the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in the Northeast region at their first meeting in Shillong on Saturday resolved to push for an Amendment to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution to secure greater autonomy for the ADCs.
Representatives from the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) in Mizoram, who participated in the meeting, confirmed this development on Sunday.
The LADC leaders stated that the meeting reached a consensus to collectively advocate for swift legislative action to Amend the Sixth Schedule, thereby ensuring enhanced autonomy for the ADCs across the Northeast region.
