Panaji, Nov 21 (UNI) Pushkar Puran, a Hindi docu-drama directed by Kamal Swaroop, was screened as opening film in the non-feature film category of Indian Panorama Section of 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being held here on Tuesday.



Speaking before the screening of the film, director Kamal Swaroop thanked the jury members for selecting it as opening film.



'Thank you to everybody, the jury, IFFI organisers. I have liked the festival very much. I am lucky. This is my second opening film in the Panorama,' Swaroop said.



Swaroop is a two time President's award and Filmfare Award winning film, television and radio director and screenwriter.



During the full moon in the month of Kartik, the town and the nearby dunes become enormous fairground in the lake city of Pushkar in Rajasthan. Folk artists, musicians, ferris-wheels, merry-go-rounds and the deep pits of Mouth of Death motorcycle rides appear like a mirage in the desert, only to vanish with the decapitation of Brahma's fifth head.



In the movie, Kamal Swaroop, a FTII alumnus, has explored the ancient myths and politicking of Indian Gods as the heavens descend and the water in the lake turns holy.
