No threat to OBC quota from Kunbi certificates: Fadnavis

Pune, Sep 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday reiterated that Kunbi certificates would be issued only to members of the Maratha community whose records officially establish Kunbi lineage. He assured that the decision would not affect the reservation rights of the OBC community.
Fadnavis was addressing a government programme at Bhivadi village in Purandar taluka on the occasion of the 234th birth anniversary of revolutionary leader Umaji Naik. On the occasion, he paid tribute to Naik’s role in the freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister underlined that the Mahayuti government was committed to the balanced development of all communities. “We do not follow the policy of taking away from one to give to another – that was the policy of the British. The Maratha community will not be deprived of reservation, and the OBC quota will also remain secure,” he said.
