No room for 3rd party intervention in J&K, India says on UK Parliament debate

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) As British Parliament today takes up the issue of alleged human rights violation in Kashmir, India strongly ruled out any scope for a third party involvement in the bilateral issue with Pakistan. ‘’I am aware of the development, but all issues with Pakistan are to be resolved bilaterally under the Simla Agreement,’’ External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said here replying to a question at the weekly media briefing. ‘’There is no room for a third party involvement,’’ Mr Swarup categorically said. The debate on the issue has been proposed by the Backbench Business Committee on an application from MP David Nuttall. The motion to be moved in the House of Commons calls on the British Government to raise the matter to raise at UN and ‘’encourage Pakistan and India to commence peace negotiations to establish a long-term solution on the future of governance of Kashmir based on the right of the Kashmiri people to determine their own future in accordance with the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolutions.’’ This stance has been rejected by India from the very beginning, whereas Pakistan has been trying since the partition to internationalise the issue. The neighbouring country has intensified its anti-India propaganda in the context of Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul Mujahedeen commander Burhan Wani and the ensuing unrest in the valley.
