No proposal of OBC quota in private sector under consideration: Gehlot

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot today said no proposal to provide 27 per cent reservation quota to Other Backward Classes (OBC) in private sector is under consideration before the Centre.
The Minister’s reply came after the National Commission of Backward Classes had advised the Centre to enact a law to make it mandatory for private entities, including cooperative and philanthropic organisations, to reserve 27 per cent of all hiring for people from the OBCs.
''We have received the suggestion of NCBC in this regard. They regularly send us their suggestions. However, currently, we are not considering it and will take no decision unless there is complete consensus on the issue,'' Mr Gehlot told mediapersons here.
