No Karvan-e-Aman bus to POK for third week

Srinagar, Mar 18 (UNI) The Karvan-e-Aman bus which operates between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), will remain suspended for the third consecutive week, official sources said here on Monday.

The repair work still continued on bridge at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC), sources told UNI adding therefore it was decided that bus service will remain suspended today also.

Passengers travelling in the bus have been informed that the service will remain suspended, they said adding all the people who were scheduled to travel in these buses will be accommodated when the service is resumed.

On March 4, the cross-LoC bus was suspended due to holiday on account of Maha Shivaratri (Heerath) in Kashmir.

Last week the repair on the bridge was started, they said.

The bus service introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of families, divided due to partition in 1947, to meet each other, after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects from both sides on "Travel Permits" instead of International Passport. However, travel permit is issued only after intelligence agencies from both the countries scrutinize the list of passengers.
