No irrelevancy in appointment: MP Govt

Bhopal, Oct 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has ruled out no irrelevancy in the appointment of Justice NK Gupta as Lokayukta.
Official sources said that the appointment has been made in compliance with the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Act, 1981. According to Section 3(1)(A) of the legislation, the Lokayukta should be appointed following consultation with the High Court Chief Justice and the Leader of the Opposition, which has been done. As stated in Section 3(2)(A), the person who has adorned the post of High Court judge could be made the Lokayukta.
State Public Relations Minister and Government Spokesperson Narottam Mishra clarified that the appointment was effected according to rules.
