No entry for tourists in Himachal's Spiti valley

Shimla, Sep 16 (UNI) In a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the peaceful and picturesque Lahaul and Spiti district, a tourism body named -- Spiti Tourism Society -- has decided to continue with the lockdown norms and prevent the footfall of tourists, even when Himachal Pradesh government has decided to facilitate all tourists without any restrictions.
"The Spiti valley in Lahaul and Spiti district will remain closed for travelers and tourists till, at least October 31", the tourism body said in a statement.
The decision was taken unanimously by residents of the remote region keeping in mind the limited medical facilities available, especially during winters, however, pertinent to mention here that the community has not reported a single case so far.
