Nitish suggests banks to open branches at Gram Panchayats

Patna, Aug 22 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today called upon banks to open branches at all Gram Panchayats of the state to boost rural economy and assured banks of government`s all possible support for the purpose.

Addressing 69th quarterly meeting of state level bankers committee (SLBC), Mr Kumar said 89 per cent of Bihar`s population resided in villages and nearly 76 per cent people were dependent on agriculture for their livelihood.

He said, Bihar had a great potential for animal keeping and fisheries and people would be hugely helped if banks gave them loans.

“Help people of the state, motivate them. Increase number of bank branches, open bank branches at all Gram Panchyats of the state,” Mr Kumar remarked while appealing banks to work more vigorously to boost rural economy of the state.
