Nitish launches scheme for payment of ex-gratia to flood affected families

Patna, Jul 19 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday launched a scheme for direct payment of ex-gratia to families of flood victims in north Bihar this season.
Under the scheme launched at 'Sankalp' at chief minister official residence 1, Anne Marg, a sum of more than Rs 181.39 crore was directly transferred to bank accounts of 3,02,329 families authenticated for the purpose.
Each affected family would get Rs 6000 within 48 hours of the devolution of money under the public finance management system (PFMS).
In the first phase of the scheme, 42441 families in Araria district, 67028 families in Darbhanga district, 3724 families in Kishanganj district, 35222 families in Madhubani district, 6855 families in Muzaffarpur district, 31790 families in East Champaran district, 20738 families in Purnea district, 4967 families in Saharsa district, 8861 families in Sheohar district, 77457 families in Sitamarhi district and 3846 families in Supaul district have benefited in the first phase.
Mr Kumar directed authorities concerned to ensure opening of bank accounts of all beneficiaries covered under the scheme. He said support of Vikas Mitras and Jeevika groups could be taken for the purpose.
