Nitish Kumar pays rich tributes to former PM Chandra Shekhar

Patna, Apr 17 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid his rich tributes to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on his birth day today.



Chief Minister Mr Kumar paid his floral tributes to life size statute of Chandra Shekhar during an official function organised at Bahadurpur Housing Colony in the state capital.

State road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav, former minister Shyam Rajak, MLA Vidya Sagar Nishad and several social and political workers also paid their tributes to former Prime Minister on the occasion.



Mr Chandra Shekhar was Prime Minister of the country from November 10, 1990 to June 21, 1991.



He was known as ‘Young Turk’ leader for his conviction, courage and integrity in the fight against vested interests. He had also undertaken a marathon walk (Padayatra) through the country from Kanyakumari in the deep South to Rajghat (Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi) in New Delhi covering a distance of nearly 4,260 kms from January 6, 1983 to June 25, 1983. The Padayatra was undertaken to renew rapport with the masses and to understand their burning problems.
