New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) President Nitish Kumar today attended a special lunch hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in honour of the visiting Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. While the event may not have much diplomatic meaning as the visiting dignitary's forefathers hailed from Bihar and the State Chief Minister might have been invited only from that perspective, the fact that JD (U) leader attended the same on the invitation of Prime Minister Modi certainly has a political significance. It is significant to note that both Nitish Kumar and PM Modi also held a separate meeting. "The Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri @NitishKumar met PM Shri @narendramodi in New Delhi today," said a tweet from the PMO India twitter handle. Nitish Kumar yesterday stayed away from the luncheon meeting with the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and a galaxy of other opposition leaders. The leaders of 17 political parties yesterday held a conclave in the capital to hold preliminary discussions on the ensuing Presidential elections and also to take stock of the completion of three years of the Modi Government. Senior Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav had attended the meeting hosted by Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Nitish Kumar, for his part yesterday, clarified that by skipping his lunch with Sonia and other opposition leaders, he has not tried to snub Sonia Gandhi or others. "I was invited by Prime Minister Modi for the lunch in honour of Mauritius Prime Minister (Pravind Jugnauth)...You know Bihar has deep emotional bonds with people there. Nearly 52 per cent of population in Mauritius has origins in Bihar," Mr Kumar has said. More UNI DEVN SNU 1536
