Nitish inspects Ganga ghats for Chhath festival preparation

Patna, Nov 8 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected Ganga ghats
along Patna and directed authorities concerned to make proper arrangement to
ensure smooth and hassle free Araghya to Sun God during Chhath festival by
devotees.
Mr Kumar inspected ghats from Nasriganj to Khajekala by a steamer and he was
also accompanied by senior officials besides Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar
Modi, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav among others.
During his inspection, Mr Kumar directed authorities for preparing proper slope
and stairs on all important ghats where large number of devotees were expected
to offer Araghya during Chhath festival.
"I had earlier inspected ghats on November 3 and issued instructions to authorities
which had been now complied with," the chief minister said adding that he had given
some new instructions today and it would also be complied with well before Chhath
festival.
All arrangements had been made to ensure hassle free and trouble free Chhath
festival, he remarked.
Mr Kumar said proper barricading in Ganga river would be done after assessment
of water level to prevent any untoward incident. Flow of river should be maintained
and desiltation was required for the purpose, he said while responding to queries of
media persons after the inspection.
