Nitin Wakankar appointed new CIO of CBI

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Indian Information Service officer, Nitin Wakankar has been appointed as the new Chief Information Officer and spokesperson of CBI while the existing CIO Abhishek Dayal was transferred to the publications division, official sources said on Friday.
The change in the premier investigative agency of the country came close to the removal of Alok Verma by the high powered committee.
Dayal who had also served in the PIB unit of the Prime Minister's Office and in Colombo as All India Radio correspondent was appointed in 2017 for a three year tenure.
CBI interim chief Nageswara Rao has ordered transfers of four more officials of the probe agency, sources added.

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) As the country is celebrating its 69th anniversary of the Republic on January 26, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Thursday alleged that the ‘the Republican Constitution is under continuous assault after Narendra Modi government assumed office in 2014 and urged that "each citizen should ensure that the next Republic Day in 2020 will not be observed under the current regime but under a secular government".
