Niti Aayog dubs Nitish as failure on all fronts: Congress

Patna, Oct 22 (UNI) Congress today put Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the dock on the basis of a report released by Niti Aayog, saying he had been dubbed failure on almost all indicators in the report.
General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Randeep Singh Surjewala told media here that a report on "Sustainable Development Goal 2019-20 " released by Niti Aayog headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had described Mr Kumar as a failure on all indicators in the report.
Since the report released by Niti Aayog was headed by Narendra Modi, it was well understood that the document was prepared after in-depth research and vetted by Mr Modi, he added.
Mr Surjewala said that Bihar was the poorest state of the country despite the so-called tenure of good governance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the last 15 years. In the report released by Niti Aayog, it was pointed out that as per estimated population of 12.47 crores of Bihar in the year 2020, 4.21 crores people were living below the poverty line which was 33.74 per cent of the total population of the state, he added.
Congress leaders said that the dropout rate of class 12 in Bihar was 39.73 per cent which was highest in the country. Similarly, only 24.53 per cent school teachers were trained which meant that school students in Bihar were being taught by 75.47 per cent untrained teachers, he added. What could be the future of school children of Bihar who were being taught by untrained teachers, he questioned.
Mr Surjewala said that Gross Enrolment Ratio(GER) in higher education was only 13.6 per cent which was lowest in the country. Bihar was the only state in the country where separate toilets for girls were not available in 8,727 schools, he pointed out quoting report released by Niti Aayog.
