NITES complains to Centre over Wipro hiring

Bengaluru, Jan 19 (UNI) The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has formally submitted a complaint to the union Labour Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya against Wipro Limited, citing serious recruitment irregularities affecting over 250 selected fresh graduates across multiple states.
According to NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja, the affected candidates were selected through campus hiring, issued Letters of Intent, and in several cases received confirmed onboarding emails with joining dates and locations.
All candidates completed required procedures, including background verification, which Wipro’s internal systems marked as fully cleared. Many graduates declined other job offers or were restricted by campus placement rules, relying on Wipro’s assurances.
Saluja said that despite this, the company has failed to onboard these candidates, leaving them in limbo for six to eight months without written explanation, joining dates, or formal rejection letters. Repeated follow-ups reportedly received either no response or only automated replies citing vague business requirements. Meanwhile, Wipro continued to onboard other candidates.
According to Saluja, the delay has caused significant distress for young graduates, resulting in prolonged unemployment, financial strain, loss of confidence, and mental stress. Families that trusted the IT giant’s reputation now face hardship due to sudden career uncertainty for their children.
Saluja termed the issue “not an isolated HR delay” but a pan-India pattern of unfair recruitment practices, calling for urgent government intervention to ensure accountability and protect youth employment.
