Nissan to launch new models every 6 months, eyes 5 pc market share in 2022

Chennai, Jun 8 (UNI) Auto major Nissan Motor Company on Friday announced it would launch new models every six months to achieve a market share of five per cent by 2022.

Talking to reporters here, Nissan India Operations President Thomas Kuehl said the new models, to be launched from the ensuing festival season under both Nissan and Datsun brands, was aimed at targetting the sub-Rs 10 lakh car segment and to tap the rural market.

Apart from launching a Sports Utility Vehicle, Nissan India would also bring to India Electric Vehicle Leaf-2.

Stating that the five per cent market share by 2022 was realistic and achievable, Mr Kuehl said the company's present market share was 1.6 per cent.

'We will add another one per cent in the next 12-18 months by foraying into segments where it was not present now', he added.
