Nine-yr-old girl dies of Dengue at RML, toll rises to 16

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) A nine-year-old girl today became the latest victim of Dengue in Delhi, succumbing to the disease at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in the Capital, hospital sources said.
       Sabreen Fatima, a resident of Abul fazal enclave in Delhi, died at RML, taking the toll  to 16.
       Earlier, three children, including a three-year-old girl, have died since last night.
       Parents of the three-year-oldTanya alleged that before being taken to Saket city hospital, she was treated by two government hospitals, but none of them tested her for dengue.
      They said the two hospitals treated her for acidity instead of Dengue.
       ''By the time she was taken to a third hospital, she had increased fever and her considered deteriorated,'' her parents told a TV channel.
       ''Our daughter was also misdiagnosed for acidity at a Delhi government hospital,'' they added.
       The death of the girl took the toll due to Dengue in Delhi to 15.
      Two more children died of the dreaded disease last evening.
       A seven-year-old boy succumbed to dengue at the B L Kapur hospital while a  14-year-old boy died due to the vector borne disease at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital,  hospital sources said.
      Yesterday, a 41-year-old woman had had also succumbed to the disease at Moolchand Hospital.
      Though official data by civic bodies puts the toll due to Dengue at five, unofficial figures put the number of deaths at 16.
      Delhi is facing one of the biggest Dengue outbreaks in Delhi in recent years.
      Nearly 300 people tested positive for it in the last 24 hours.
