Kolkata, Sep 28 (UNI) The 'Nightingale' of Bollywood and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar , whose matchless voice has entertained generations, has turned 88 today Prime Minister Narendra Modi , West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, union ministers and several B-town celebrities took to micro-blogging platform Twitter to wish her on the special day. Mr Modi in his tweet said, “ Birthday wishes to respected @mangeshkarlata Didi. Her melodious voice is admired by crores of Indians. I pray for her long & healthy life.” “Wishing @mangeshkarlata ji a very Happy Birthday. To many more years of happiness, health and music,” Ms Banerjee tweeted. Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in his tweet said, “Heartiest wishes to the lady with most melodious voice we've ever known, @mangeshkarlata ji, on her Birthday. May you live long & be healthy Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in his tweet said , “Heartiest birthday greetings @mangeshkarlata Didi ! Wishing you long & healthy life! You are an inspiration and pride of Maharashtra !” Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar said, ” A very Happy Birthday to the Goddess of Music and our beloved Didi #LataMangeshkar Wish you a long and healthy life." Veteran bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor said, “28th September Birthdays. Bhagat Singh ji Lata Mangeshkar ji: Rima Jain: Ranbir Kapoor. Second life of mine, 44 years back, "Bobby"released!” “Wish You A Very Happy Birthday #LataMangeshkar ji. No person can define himself/herself so perfectly in just one line as you did. #Legend,” Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal tweeted. Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja said, “Happy 88th Birthday To Nightingale Of India, Lata Mangeshkar. Wish You A Very Happy And Healthy Life. #LataMangeshkar.” Meanwhile, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar said age doesn't dampen her spirit and that she has always lived with a hope for a better tomorrow. The melody queen said, "Should I tell you the truth? I don't feel my age at all. I still feel young. I've never been weighed down by my troubles. Everyone has her share of problems in life. Even when I was young and struggling, and I was happy hopping from studio to studio bumping into other strugglers like Kishoreda and Mukesh bhaiyya.” "Those were fun times even when I had to go hungry for the entire day. There was no money in my purse. But there was only hope in my heart. And the belief that no matter how tough the future looked there was always hope for a better tomorrow,” she added. Mangeshkar, who was born Sep 28, 1929, also featured in the Guinness World Records book from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world.
