Nightingale of Bollywood Lata Mangeshkar turns 88

Kolkata, Sep 28 (UNI) The 'Nightingale' of Bollywood and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar , whose matchless voice has entertained generations, has turned 88 today Prime Minister Narendra Modi , West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, union ministers and several B-town celebrities took to micro-blogging platform Twitter to wish her on the special day.
Mr Modi in his tweet said, “ Birthday wishes to respected @mangeshkarlata Didi.
Her melodious voice is admired by crores of Indians.
I pray for her long & healthy life.

” Meanwhile, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar said age doesn't dampen her spirit and that she has always lived with a hope for a better tomorrow.
The melody queen said, "Should I tell you the truth? I don't feel my age at all.
I still feel young.
I've never been weighed down by my troubles.
Everyone has her share of problems in life.
Even when I was young and struggling, and I was happy hopping from studio to studio bumping into other strugglers like Kishoreda and Mukesh bhaiyya.
