NIA raids in UP, Punjab in connection with ISIS-inspired Harkut-ul-Harb-e-Islam group

New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted search operations in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, as part of a probe against ISIS-inspired militant group Harkut-ul-Harb-e-Islam allegedly operating in India.
According to NIA, the raids were conducted in eight places including Rampur, Amroha, Bulandshahar, Meerut, Hapur and Ludhiana.
The fresh raids comes five-day after the central terror probe agency arrested an accused Muhammad Absar, a resident of Jasora of Meerut (UP), who teaches at Jamia Husania Abul Hassan at Piplera in Hapur Ghaziabad.
Earlier, on December 26 last year, NIA said that it had busted an ISIS-inspired terror group Harkut-ul-Harb-e-Islam module which was allegedly planning suicide attacks and serial blasts targeting politicians and government installations in National Capital and parts of north India and arrested 10 suspects.
The Thursday’s search operations were carried after the fresh inputs received during the sustained interrogation of the accused, the NIA said.
