New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday issued notice to the Chief Secretary of Bihar government, seeking a detailed report in the botched-up cataract surgeries at Shrikrishna Medical College and Hospital in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, allegedly leading to six people losing their eyesight.
According to an NHRC statement issued here, the Commission took suo motu cognisance of a media report, which said the eyes of six patients had to be removed due to botched-up cataract surgeries at SMCH on November 22.
The Commission sought information about the exact number of patients, who have lost their eyes, status of medical treatment being provided to them and the relief provided by the state government, including action against the responsible officers and doctors, it said.
