NHRC directs Odisha govt to pay compensation to two victims transfused with infected blood

Kendrapara, Jan 21 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed Odisha Chief Secretary to pay Rs one lakh compensation to each of the two victims who were wrongly transfused infected blood in 2016, at VIMSAR, Burla.
Acting on a petition, filed by Activist-Lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy the Apex human rights panel passed the order recently and asked the government to submit the proof of payment within eight weeks.
The NHRC asked Sambalpur and Jharsuguda district collectors to publish a public notice in local newspapers in favour of the victims for payment of compensation to them after the authorities said the compensation could not be paid due to non-availability of the address of the victims.
