New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday issued notices to the Ministry of Road and Transport, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change and State of Uttarakhand, asking them what have they done regarding the disposal of muck generated during construction of roads in hilly State.
On a petition filed by an NGO "COMMON CAUSE" Principal Bench of NGT headed by Justice Adarsh Goel, Chairman, issued notice to the Union of India and State of Uttarakhand, asking about the steps taken by them with regard to the safe disposal of debris generated during the construction of the roads in their 'Chardham' Project.
The NGO's advocate Gaurav Kumar Bansal, argued before the NGT that during the construction of Chardham roads, Project Proponent namely Ministry of Road and Transport is dumping muck in an unscientific and irrational manner, hence causing great damage to the ecology and environment of State of Uttarakhand.
After hearing the argument, the Green Court has directed the concerned authorities to reply before the next date of hearing which is on August 26.
