NGO urges for strict implementation of Juvenile law

Panaji, Jan 28 (UNI) National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (Note) India has urged the North and South Goa authorities to call a meeting of stakeholders for strict implementation of the amended juvenile law which came into force on January 15.
Note India General Secretary Dr Shekhar Salkar in a letter to the authorities said the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 has been enacted to consolidate and amend the law relating to children in need of care and protection by catering to their basic needs through proper care, protection, development, treatment, social re-integration, by adopting a child-friendly approaches.
The Act recognises the harmful effects of tobacco and tobacco industry’s sinister design to specifically target vulnerable children as their new consumers, he said.
