Rescue underway after 2 dead, 17 missing in China flash flood, mudslide

Kangding, Sichuan, Aug 3 (UNI) Authorities have dispatched over 400 personnel to join in the rescue operation in southwest China's Sichuan Province following a flash flood and mudslide.
The flash flood and mudslide took place at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the city of Kangding, the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, toppling a tunnel bridge, destroying homes in a village, and leaving two people dead and 17 missing.
A total of 291 firefighters were sent for the rescue operation, while 100 workers were sent to restore the roads. Another 55 people from China Anneng Construction Group also joined the rescue efforts.
