Jordan evacuates 112 foreign nationals from Syria amid Suwayda violence

Beirut, July 31 (UNI) With the cooperation of Syrian authorities, Jordan successfully evacuated 112 foreign nationals from the southern Syrian province of As-Suwayda, the Jordan News Agency reported, citing the country's foreign ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah stated that the evacuation was carried out at the request of the respective governments. The individuals were transported by buses operated by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, in coordination with Jordanian national agencies, the report noted on Wednesday.
The evacuation followed a wave of violence that erupted on July 13, when armed groups reportedly attacked Druze-majority towns in As-Suwayda. More than 30 people have been killed and around 100 others injured in violent clashes between Bedouin tribes and local fighters in the predominantly Druze city of Suwayda, southern Syria, according to a statement by the Syrian Ministry of Interior.
