Japan-Russia intergovernmental trade commission commits to developing cooperation – Tokyo

Tokyo, Dec 21 (Sputnik) Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and the Russian minister for economic development, Maksim Reshetnikov, have chaired a virtual meeting of the Japan-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Issues on Monday, with both parties committing to expand cooperation between Tokyo and Moscow, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan said.
"The ministers noted that, despite the limitations in economic cooperation between the two countries as a result of COVID-19, Japanese and Russian companies have managed to jointly develop rapid coronavirus tests. Additionally, both parties confirmed their intention to develop cooperation through an eight-point interaction plan," the ministry said.
During the virtual session, Japanese and Russian representatives agreed that the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission should take place when Reshetnikov visits Tokyo, according to the ministry.
