Twenty-nine Afghan soldiers killed in Taliban attacks

Kabul, Sep 21 (UNI) At least 29 Afghan security force personnel were killed in clashes with the Taliban in different parts of the country during the past 24 hours, despite calls for a nationwide ceasefire and the Doha talks between the two delegates from both sides.
The past day saw multiple clashes between Afghan security forces and the Taliban across several provinces including Balkh, Kapisa, Kandahar and Takhar.
Tolonews quoted a security source saying that at least six army soldiers and three policemen were confirmed to have been killed and four others were injured in a Taliban attack in the northeastern province of Takhar on Sunday night.
Another attack took place in Naw Abad village of Dasht-e-Qala district where Taliban attacked security forces, stated the source.
At least eight more security force members were killed in a clash with the Taliban in Tagab district of Kapisa province. Kapisa police confirmed that the clash started after midnight on Sunday and continued until Monday morning.
Spokesman of the provincial governor of Balkh Munir Ahmad Farhad said that the Taliban attacked an outpost of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Hewad district in the province on Monday morning, the
Farhad confirmed that five security force members at the outpost were killed and three others were taken captive by the Taliban.
The Taliban also attacked an Afghan security outpost in Maroof district in Kandahar province on Sunday evening. The attack led to the death of seven members of the Afghan security forces, said the provincial police spokesman Jamal Barikzai.
He said the Taliban also suffered casualties in the attack, but was unable to confirm the numbers.
