Washington, Sep 16 (UNI) The United States will have a vaccine against the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in a matter of weeks, US President Donald Trump said in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
At the Townhall meeting with voters organised by ABC News, the President said, “The previous administration would have taken perhaps years to have a vaccine, because of the FDA and all the approvals”.
Trump said, "We’re within weeks of getting it. It could be three weeks, four weeks,".
The President made a broad defense of his response to the pandemic, which has killed more than 1,96,000 Americans since February and disputed that he had downplayed the virus.
"We're going to be okay and it is going away," even "without the vaccine," he told the audience..”
"I think what I did by closing up the country, I think I saved two, maybe two and a half [million], maybe more than that, lives. I really don't think so. I think we did a very good job. I don't know if that's been recognized," Trump said.
