US House passes bill banning equipment licenses for firms deemed national security threats

Washington, Oct 21 (UNI/Sputnik) The US House of Representatives passed a bill prohibiting the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from issuing equipment licenses to businesses that are considered to pose national security threats to the United States.
The House passed the measure on Wednesday in a 420-4 vote and will send the measure to the Senate for consideration.
Democratic Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, one of the authors of the bill, said in a previous press release that the legislation is intended to prevent equipment manufactured by Chinese firms like Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision and Dahua from being further utilized or marketed in the United States.
