Boris Johnson to give security services extra powers to tackle Russian threat

London, Jul 22(UNI) British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected on Wednesday to announce the granting of more power to the security services to enable them to stop foreign interference after a cross-party report found the government “took its eye off the ball” over the Russian meddling in UK elections.
The Prime Minister will strengthen counter-espionage laws in the wake of the damning report presented by the Commons Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) , Evening Standard reported.
The move comes as the opposition positions itself to go on the offensive on the issue on Wednesday, on Parliament's final sitting day before the summer recess.
