Saudi Arabia calls for OIC meeting on Afghanistan on Dec 17 - Foreign Minister

Doha, Nov 29 (UNI/Sputnik) Saudi Arabia calls for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan adding that Pakistan is ready to host the meeting on December 17, the Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said on Monday.
"In connection with the serious humanitarian crisis faced by the brotherly Afghan people, and given the current chairmanship of the Kingdom in the OIC, Saudi Arabia sees the need to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers of the organization to discuss the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. Pakistan has expressed its readiness to host the OIC summit in Islamabad on December 17, 2021," Al Saud tweeted.
Al Saud also expressed hope that the meeting would facilitate coordination of necessary measures to alleviate the humanitarian crisis that Afghan people are facing.
