Beijing, Jul 27 (UNI) The diplomatic staff at the American consulate in the city of Chengdu on Monday left their consulate, after the 72-hour deadline expired, amid the ongoing row with China.
China had ordered the closure of the American consulate in response to the earlier US order of closing the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas last week.
Before Monday's deadline expired, the consulate staff were seen leaving the building, a plaque was removed, and a US flag was lowered, a BBC report says.
