PM's meeting with Swiss Prez was successful, says MEA official

Davos, Jan 23 (UNI) The bilateral parleys between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss
President Alain Berset were highly successful, senior officials in the Ministry of External Affairs
said here on Tuesday.
"Overall it was a very satisfactory meeting with the President of Switzerland," Foreign Secretary
designate Vijay Gokhale told reporters here.
In his first bilateral engagement here Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held first meeting with President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset here.
"On reaching Davos, held talks with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Mr @alain_berset.
We reviewed the scope of our bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to deepen it even further,"
Mr Modi later tweeted.
"First engagement in snowing #Davos, PM @narendramodi met with Swiss President @alain_berset. Two leaders had productive discussions on steps to further deepen our bilateral cooperation built upon our shared values of democracy and diversity. #IndiaMeansBusiness," MEA spokesman tweeted.
Mr Gokhale, who is at present Secretary Economic Relations in the MEA, said, India is negotiating Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) with Switzerland. The two leaders also held discussions on Paris Climate Change accord.
During his stay at Davos on Tuesday, on the sidelines of World Economic Forum meet, Prime Minister met Queen Maxima of Netherlands and also Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Mr Gokhale said that Mr Trudeau has been invited to make a state visit to India next month.
Mr Trudeau told Mr Modi said he is looking forward to his India visit.
"Canadian Prime Minister will come with his family, a business delegation and some members of Parliament," Mr Gokhale said.
Mr Trudeau will be on a State visit to India from February 17-23, 2018, at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.
"The visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in key areas of mutual interest including trade and investment, energy, science and innovation, higher education, infrastructure development, skill development and space," MEA said in a statement in Delhi.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary of DIPP, said on Monday Prime
Minister had interaction with 64 CEOs from around the world.
As many as 40 of them were from other countries and 24 from India.
"Total market capitalisation of these companies is $3.6 trillion. It was an important interaction. 15 CEOs shared their thoughts," Mr Abhishek said.
