Moscow, Sep 24 (UNI) Russian president Vladimir Putin has been nominated for 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, reports said on Thursday.
Russian writer Sergei Komkov said on September 10, he had nominated Putin's name for the most prestigious award.
Commenting on the development, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that these are initiatives of those putting forward relevant proposals.
"You know that absolutely different people are being nominated for this prize. These are initiatives of those putting forward relevant proposals. In this case, of the writer that you mentioned. There is a certain procedure of considering nominees. If such a decision is made, it will be great, if it is not, it will not be a problem. It is hard to say anything else," Peskov told reporters.
Earlier this month, a far-right Norwegian politician nominated US President Donald Trump for the 2021 Nobel peace prize, citing the President's role in the recent peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes given annually by the Oslo Nobel Committee to individuals and organisations that have made, in the opinion of the committee, outstanding contributions to peace.
