Islamabad, May 22 (UNI) Pakistan's Punjab Assembly convened its session after being de-sealed, with no-confidence motions against Speaker Pervaiz Elahi and Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari on the agenda, after the MPAs were allowed to enter the assembly by the police who de-sealed the assembly after their initial refusal, Express Tribune reported on Sunday.
Earlier, the police stopped lawmakers belonging to both PML-N and PTI from entering the provincial assembly who had allegedly received orders from the speaker to seal the premises. However, the lawmakers along with the media were allowed inside after the protests.
It has not been confirmed yet as to who had issued these instructions but the PML-N lawmakers believed that these orders were issued by Elahi claiming that “only the speaker has the authority to make such decisions”.
