Japan's Nikkei index climbs above 43k for 1st time

Tokyo, Aug 13 (UNI) Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index hit a new all-time intraday high on Wednesday morning, topping the 43,000 mark for the first time, media reports said.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 582.90 points, or 1.36 percent, from Tuesday to 43,301.07.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, ended the morning up 27.48 points, or 0.90 percent, at 3,093.85, as per media reports.

Iran launches missile and drone strikes on US bases in Gulf, warns of 'harsher retaliation'

Tehran, July 12 (UNI) Iran's Armed Forces have launched coordinated missile and drone strikes targeting US military facilities in several regional locations, including Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman, following renewed American attacks on southern Iran, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said. The Iranian Army warned that any further US action would trigger 'harsher retaliation'.
