Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran discussed bilateral relations by phone - Ministry

Baku, Oct 13 (UNI/Sputnik) The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran, Jeyhun Bayramov and Hossein Amir Abdollahian, discussed bilateral relations by telephone, noting that the rhetoric observed recently does not correspond to the level of friendly ties, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Tensions between Tehran and Baku increased in mid-September. The Iranian authorities suspect that Azerbaijan is closely cooperating with Iran's regional opponent, Israel. Iran accused Israel of seeking to get closer to the Iranian borders through Azerbaijan, trying to take advantage of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as to foment a conflict in relations between Baku and Tehran.
"The ministers exchanged views on the current state of relations between the two countries. The parties noted that the rhetoric observed recently does not correspond to the level of friendly relations between our countries and all disagreements should be resolved through dialogue," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
