Israel qualifies for Eurovision 2024 final despite protests over Gaza conflict

Jerusalem, May 10 (UNI) Israel has made it into the Eurovision 2024 contest final with Eden Golan's song "Hurricane" despite mass calls for the ban of the country's participation in the event over its actions in the Gaza Strip, data on the organisers' website showed on Friday.
In addition to Israel, the final set of 10 qualifiers includes Latvia, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Estonia, Switzerland, Georgia and Armenia.
On Thursday, over 10,000 people took part in a pro-Palestinian protest in the Swedish city of Malmo, which hosts Eurovision this year, amid the second semi-final for the song contest. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg also joined the rally. The demonstrators demanded a ban on Israel's participation in the event.
