EU sanctions 10 Syrian nationals, 2 companies over Ukraine

Moscow, July 21 (UNI/Sputnik) The European Union on Thursday introduced sanctions against 10 Syrian nationals, including military officers, and two private security companies over their alleged involvement in the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
All targeted Syrian officers hold commander ranks, according to the list published in the Official Journal of the EU. Sanctions were also imposed on the owners of the targeted companies, Al-Sayyad Company for Guarding and Protection Services and Sanad Protection and Security Services.
Imputed to them are "actions and policies which undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, or stability or security in Ukraine," particularly the alleged recruitment of mercenaries to fight in Ukraine.
