Islamabad, Sep 7 (UNI) Punjab provinces' Minister for School Education Dr Murad Raas on Monday said that schools in the province would start reopening in phases starting on September 15.
Mr Raas tweeted that schools in Punjab would open in phases with students of classes nine and 10 will return to school on September 15, whereas students of classes six to eight will start returning on September 22 while those of classes nursery to class five will return to school on September 30.
He said, masks would be made mandatory in all schools, adding that all schools would have to implement the SOPs. Strict action would be taken against schools that do not implement SOPs, Ghani said.
Raas said this even as the federal and provincial governments are yet to decide on the reopening of 300,000 educational institutions across the country, which have been closed for six months due to the COVID pandemic, Dawn News reported.
A meeting of the inter-provincial education ministers’ conference (IPEMC) discussed the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in educational institutions as well as making the students and parents aware about the necessary precautionary measures.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan education departments have said they will follow the decision taken by the federal government in this regard.
